Road Safety Contracts are experienced in treating and removing moss and algae on hard surfaces. Moss and algae can grow on many areas such as stone fencing, sports courts and paved areas.
Moss and algae can be a hazard to peoples health due to bacteria, untreated moss and algae surfaces can also become slippery and a trip hazard and could cause serious damage to people or livestock if left untreated.
Road Safety Contracts use two methods to treat Moss & Algae on hard surfaces:
- Chemical treatment- treatment with chemicals suitable for all surfaces
- Granular treatment- treatment with sulphate of iron*
Moss and Algae can form on many hard surfaces including:
- Stone Terraces
- Paved and flagged footways
- Tennis Courts
- School Playgrounds
- Tarmac, Bitmac and Concrete surfaces
- Building walls and facades
Site visits and risk assessments are completed before any work is commenced by Road Safety Contracts. Chemical will be identified before use depending on each site. All environmentally sensitive areas will be identified at each location.
*Note for blacktop areas only as can stain concrete areas
